Dance Shoes

Dance Shoes

Almost every dance style requires specific footwear to protect you from accidents, provide dance comfort, produce rhythmic sounds (such as tap and flamenco), and protect the dance floor from damage, etc.

That's why the building has been adapted to accommodate this in different areas, and we'll provide you with a little more explanation here:

Where can you walk with outdoor shoes in the building?

  • The entrance

  • The café (The only place where you can change or remove your shoes)

  • The restrooms

  • During performances in the theater hall

All dance floors throughout the building are completely floating with a cushioning effect of 6mm to provide maximum joint protection and prevent accidents. The top layers are finished with different materials specific to the various dance styles.

You can dance barefoot or in socks in all the studios.

Of course, different dance styles also have specific dance shoes that are allowed in the studios where those styles are taught.

  • General dance shoes: For most partner dances like salsa, bachata, ballroom, forró, lindy hop, etc., shoes with chrome leather soles or brushed leather are provided. You won't slip if you put your weight on your feet, but you will create rhythmic sounds when dancing (think of tango or salsa, for example). Additionally, this sole doesn't damage the floor or leave black marks, which can happen with traditional leather soles. Since this is a flexible sole, it also allows you to easily shift your weight to the balls of your feet without putting extra strain on your joints and muscles. Allowed in: Art Deco (1st floor) and Aakash 1+2 (ground floor).

  • Flamenco shoes: Only for flamenco and allowed in Ananta 1 and 2 (ground floor). More information can be found on the website under "Classes > Flamenco > Shoes."

  • Tap dance shoes: Specifically for tap dance and equipped with metal taps on the soles. For beginners, we have plenty of shoes available in the center that you can use for free during classes. Only allowed in Ananta 1 and 2 (ground floor).

  • Ballet shoes: Allowed in all studios.
