What is Bhangra?
Bhangra is an exhilarating and vibrant folk dance that hails from the rich cultural landscape of the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent. Originally, it was joyfully performed in a circle by farmers celebrating a bountiful and successful harvest, creating a sense of community and shared joy.
Over time, Bhangra has transformed into a widely recognized and beloved dance style, celebrated for its lively and infectious rhythms as well as its dynamic and energetic movements. You may have seen captivating Bhangra performances showcased on popular shows like Belgium's Got Talent 2021, during the prestigious London Olympics, in iconic Bollywood films that have become classics, or on thrilling television dance contests that have dazzled audiences.
Come and experience the infectious joy and exhilarating energy of Bhangra with us at Shoonya Dance Centre in Ghent, where we celebrate dance in all its forms! -
